How I drive the golf ball more on the sweet spot and not the heel?

I put some impact tape on my driver and I consistently hit the golf ball more towards the heel. I shoot in the high 80's and have taken lessons for this problem. Video tape shows my hands pushing out slightly (towards the direction I'm facing). The results are pull hooks or outright shanks. Obviously lessons aren't helping.

Any drills or tips would be great!|||set up with the ball on the toe of the club.|||Your body and your hands have to work together. Try making shorter swings and go longer and longer as you get more comfortable. Also go to www.tigerwoods.com and read some of his tips.|||You have some good thoughts below but I would start by setting up from the ball back an inch or so. I have seen many set up too close to the ball when hitting their driver. They "stretch out" on their downswing.

For example I played over Christmas with someone younger than me and on his drives he to set up with the ball right at the end of the toe. He nailed it each time in the middle of the club face. Said he had Gumby arms and his swing stretched them away from his body on the downswing.

With the idea that one small thing may fix the issue, I would take my normal stance and then back away from the ball an inch or so pulling the club back so that the ball is set up closer to the toe than the center of the club face. No swing changes; same backswing and downswing. Same posture. Same arm angles. Same club angle. Just set up so the ball is closer to the toe. Give it more than a couple of tries. If this one thing does not work, then scrap my idea and consider the other suggestions.

Lastly take a lesson where someone will film your swing and comment on it while taping. Review the tape with them and then take it home and play it back when the wheels are falling off of the cart.

Have fun!!!|||Your spine angle is changing from your intial address position and your impact position. If you hands are moving away from the ball at impact, it sounds as if the club is trapped behind you. You will want to get some one to show you what it means to swing the club on plane. This results in longer and straighter golf shots.

Learning to swing on plane starts with shorter golf shot like 50 yards with a 6 iron. Learning to hit the ball on the intended target line will teach you a lot about your swing path. Intentionally changing your swing path will show your about how club face angle and swing path produce different shots.

Spine angle stays constant on all these little shots.

Good luck!|||never adjust to a problem!!! adjust your swing to fix the problem...heres some advice! i wish i could see your swing but i think that your problem could be pushing your hands out away from your body at take away...thus, your hands are naturally bringing the club back in towards your body to compinsate! this is often the big problem with golfers who hook or slice also this causes a great amount of problem with hitting the ball in the "sweet spot" try keeping your hands straight back and not moving them too far out or in...if you move them in the same problem could occur the other way...good luck
